Aurevoir

Bonjour a tous,

BYE BYE

Hi everyone,
With our emotions level settled to normal, we are getting ready to go back to Kiev later today where we will wait for our 2nd meeting with the SDA. The second sad thing about Odessa (Одеса) is that we did not have time to visite the city much because the appartment and the orphanage were very far away from the town center. Next time I guess...

NIKITA - POURQUOI NE PARLAIS-TU PAS

NIKITA - WHY CAN'T YOU PRODUCE A SOUND?

Le revers de la photo...

Comment commencer!

WHAT'S ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE PICTURE...

We finally have met with little Nikita. A shy little boy that once he had a little car in his hand accepted us like he knew Anick and I for a long time. Sitting on Anick's lap, he would move the car back and forth on the table with a sure smile on. But that was after we learned that his father is unknown and he was taken away shortly after birth (like both older brother and sister) because his mother was/is diagnose with oligophrenia (mental retardness) and is not capable to raise a child. That raised the red flag instantly in our head. Afterwords, we moved to another room to play more with him. He was interacting a lot with us and Olga, TDH doctor, but it was really difficult to get an eye contact with him. Olga has tried to make him speak during that whole hour but no word, none, nothing, NIET,...
He is 31 months old he should be able to produce words by now taking the fact that in an orphanage they are less stilmulated...nothing but a big laughter when she did the "air plane" with him. The docteur said that she like the way he was interactive but she is worried about his speech "black out". Well we want to see him 1 or 2 more days to see if it was because of the unusual situation and to be able to take the best decision for us and for the child. We have to be happy to make him happy...
Feel free to write any comments, we are a little bit lost here...

Métro, boulot, dodo...

Martin a décidé aujourd'hui d'essayer le métro! Wow!

A RELAXED DAY IN KIEV: DA.. MY FEET ARE SWELLING

Hey fellows,
The only thing on the menu today: go to the SDA to sign papers that will allow us to go visit the little Nikita next Monday. We are happy that we have been living with "cree time" for so long because she said: "I will call you friday to go sigh paper SDA for see child" and today 2:45 pasted and no call yet. We must not forget that we are friday and the office must close earlier and the train takes around 10 hours to get to Odessa. So Monday morning was out of the question to sign these papers. Thanks to the Crees to have give us that calm patience... even when critical. Well we surely have closed the gate at the SDA. Seeing his picture again gave us an instant smile in our faces. I could not not look at his pink "Crocks" again. He really looked proud and sure on his stands.
After we were off to go sightseeing and picture hunting. Churches seem to have all gold roof tops and women dresses and high heels...My neck still hurts... Anick says that the man absolutely don't match with the women of Ukraine so JEAN don't look for your soulmate here unless you like them with tyne pony tails.

A GIANT WITH PINK SLIPPERS...

We are just out of our first meeting with the Adoption Department (SDA). Several files of children were presented to us. All of them to the exeption of one were sick kids (F.A.S.; Kidney troubles; Mental retardness, etc...) They exeption is a little 2½ year old boy named Nikita. He looks much more like a Rugby player than a kong fu fighter...I hope he won't tackle me on first sight...lol. According to the SDA, his health is supposely good but he might have a little hole to the heart. He is located in Odessa, southern tip of Ukraine on the coast of the Black Sea. We are leaving Sunday. After an overnight sleep in the train we should be able to visit him on monday morning and with the Doctor in the afternoon. For now we will take the few days left to visit Kiev and its wonders...

Tapisserie mur a mur...

On n’a pu 20 ans…

Hey everyone! Finally, we have arrived. After 30 hours without sleeping, we’ve hit the sack for at least 17 hours... It reminds me of my first parties up north... For our first day, first things first; coffee and toilet paper. Coffee was pretty easy to find and to order : at McDonald`s “dva kafe” but when she asked with cream or not I was lost... I know now why an interpreter is necessary here. We’ve got to learn the language fast. And Toilet paper is a lot harder to find than a pretty girl on the street, believe me.
We live in a really modest apartment on the 8th floor. It is not really high but when the elevator is not working...Happily my luggage stayed overnight in Germany, so the little guy from the airline company had to show is strength and his cardiovascular qualities this morning.
