Aurevoir

Bonjour a tous,

BYE BYE

Hi everyone,
With our emotions level settled to normal, we are getting ready to go back to Kiev later today where we will wait for our 2nd meeting with the SDA. The second sad thing about Odessa (Одеса) is that we did not have time to visite the city much because the appartment and the orphanage were very far away from the town center. Next time I guess...

NIKITA - POURQUOI NE PARLAIS-TU PAS

NIKITA - WHY CAN'T YOU PRODUCE A SOUND?

lundi 31 août 2009

Le revers de la photo...

Comment commencer!

WHAT'S ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE PICTURE...

We finally have met with little Nikita. A shy little boy that once he had a little car in his hand accepted us like he knew Anick and I for a long time. Sitting on Anick's lap, he would move the car back and forth on the table with a sure smile on. But that was after we learned that his father is unknown and he was taken away shortly after birth (like both older brother and sister) because his mother was/is diagnose with oligophrenia (mental retardness) and is not capable to raise a child. That raised the red flag instantly in our head. Afterwords, we moved to another room to play more with him. He was interacting a lot with us and Olga, TDH doctor, but it was really difficult to get an eye contact with him. Olga has tried to make him speak during that whole hour but no word, none, nothing, NIET,...
He is 31 months old he should be able to produce words by now taking the fact that in an orphanage they are less stilmulated...nothing but a big laughter when she did the "air plane" with him. The docteur said that she like the way he was interactive but she is worried about his speech "black out". Well we want to see him 1 or 2 more days to see if it was because of the unusual situation and to be able to take the best decision for us and for the child. We have to be happy to make him happy...
Feel free to write any comments, we are a little bit lost here...
